Spend a tenth of the price and get a regular nail set. This one slips off the cleat way too easily.
It does the job it should, and no regrets on the purchase. The knurled shaft is helpful when holding the tool in place on the head of the cleat. Not much to say here except that it performs as intended: to be struck with another piece of metal (hammer) to drive further into a piece of wood another piece of metal (cleat and/or staple). It didn't deform or shatter with repeated use, which would have reduced its rating. I used this tool on hardwood flooring cleats only, and thus cannot speak to its performance on staples.
Where this set beats a round is because with those nails, it is able to cut into the nail head and drive it in.it just doesn't look as pretty. The set slips off the nail and I've almost found that when driving more than 1/8" it works best to turn the set perpendicular to the nail and just try to bend the nail down into the tongue. :P I got this, but tried using it with the Bostitch L-Nails. When my gun has an occasional misfire, I'm able to tap the nail down with this set, but it doesn't work as good as I'd like. I've only driven a handful of nails that set correctly.The set works as designed.if they could just redesign the nails and make the heads a little wider, it'd be easier to use this tool.
The flat head on the top was much easier to set the L nails than a traditional set. This made the project go much faster. This nail set saved alot of time. The traditional nail set slid off the nail easier and bent the nails more easily.
I didn't need to use it often though, as the porta-nailer pretty much always drove the nails in deep enough. It was easy for me to position it correctly and drive them in. I has been useful to me. I have noticed some bad reviews on this item and I have not tried it with the L-Shaped nails. I did however have a lot of success using it with the T-shaped nails. Yes, it's expensive but I don't regret my purchase at all.
